Lake star tailback Jim Luther is out indefinitely with a knee injury suffered in Saturday night’s win over McKinley at Fawcett Stadium.

“It doesn’t look good,” Lake head coach Jeff Durbin said Monday, declining for privacy reasons go into the further details of Luther’s injury.

When asked if Luther could return this season, Durbin said, “We’re a ways away from making any decision like that.”

“There may be a chance down the road with a brace or something, but that’s a long ways off on making a decision like that, if at all.”

The senior scored twice in Saturday’s 21-14 win over McKinley before being injured in the fourth quarter. He was on crutches by the end of the game.

Luther is among the area’s scoring (12 TDs) and rushing (378) leaders, and is drawing the attention of Division I colleges.

Lake is 3-0 and hosts Boardman at 7:30 Friday night.
