WHAT TO WATCH:  The 2010 season couldn’t have started much better for the Blue Streaks. Led by Jim Luther’s five TDs, they scored their most points in a season opener since beating Strasburg, 62-0, in 1970. They caused five turnovers and scored two TDs defensively. Matt Gallegly made a 32-yard field goal and five of six extra-point kicks. But Green broke off several long returns on special teams, something Lake head coach Jeff Durbin called “really bothersome to us.” Lake DB Logan Wartman totaled a team-high 10 tackles last week. DB Wes Wilson had nine tackles, two pass break-ups, an interception and a forced fumble, which Luther returned 67 yards for a touchdown. Durbin is very impressed with Hudson’s defense, which gave Lake problems in last year’s meeting. “They’re in the right place,” he said. “They’re not taking a lot of chances. They attack. They do a nice job of taking on blocks and getting off blocks.” They’re similarly sound in the kicking game, so the point is the Explorers probably aren’t going to beat themselves. They’ll be a good test for Lake junior QB Jon Spohn, who was solid in his first start last week. Hudson’s offense is very multiple and has two versatile quarterbacks: junior QB-WR-S David Nelson and sophomore QB-RB-WR-LB Ben Gedeon. Both players are versatile. Senior RB-DB Joey Studer is another playmaker. Hudson has an experienced line, but it only generated 155 yards of offense last week, including 33 on the ground.
