THE MATCHUP The young Bulldogs, ranked No. 5 in the state's Division I media poll, look to be putting it all together on offense coming off a season-high 40 points last week. Junior RB Lameir Garrett ran for 233 yards and four touchdowns. ... Garrett's running complements the dangerous McKinley aerial game with senior QB Alijah Curtis and WRs Khyree Woody and Jalen Ross. Curtis, an Army recruit, has not thrown an interception in 103 attempts while passing for 1,001 yards and eight TDs. "We want to make them snap it again," Lake coach Dan DeGeorge said. "We need to take away the big play and churn out some long drives." ... Curtis tore up Lake last year, completing 20 of 29 passes for 271 yards, four TDs and no picks. He also rushed for 61 yards and a TD on 11 carries. ... Lake's defense has allowed a combined 972 yards the last two weeks (both losses after a 3-0 start). Louisville passed for 502 yards two weeks ago. Jackson ran for 220 last week. ... Lake looks to bounce back after its offense was shut out for more than 44 minutes last week. Senior Tye Hunt, who returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, caught a 56-yard TD pass from sophomore QB Jacob Eckels with 3:52 left in the fourth quarter. "He can really run," McKinley coach Dan Reardon said about Hunt. "He's a big play waiting to happen." ... Senior QB Paul Troyer was banged up last week but is expected to play against McKinley. Troyer has completed 44 of 80 passes for 680 yards, five TDs and three interceptions this season. ... Senior Cameron Martin leads Lake with 434 yards and seven TDs rushing. ... McKinley has added a hammer to its defense with LB Willie Mitchell (6-2, 226). The senior debuted last week with nine tackles (three for loss), a sack and an interception. Mitchell hits violently and takes a toll on opposing offenses. ... S Brian Pinkney and LB Cayman Williams, both sophomores, continue to lead the Bulldogs defense with 52 and 50 tackles, respectively. ... McKinley has won three straight and six of the last seven in the series against Lake.
