THE MATCHUP Lake holds an 8-3 edge in the series, but the Leopards won the most recent meeting, 34-21, in the first round of the Division II playoffs in 2007. This is the first year of a four-year contract between the teams. ... The Blue Streaks are 3-0 for the third time in four years. They also started 4-0 in 2016. ... RB Cameron Martin ran for 159 yards and two TDs against Copley. He has 306 yards on 43 carries with five TDs this season. Lake is out-rushing teams 708-245 this year. ... QB Paul Troyer is 20 of 33 for 317 yards, four TDs and no interceptions. WR Tye Hunt has 11 catches for 196 yards and a TD and WR Logan Fedor has five catches for 82 yards and a TD. ... LB Noah Collins leads the defense with 15 tackles (11 solo), including two for loss. "They look like Lake," said Leopards coach John DeMarco, a Streaks assistant from 1990-97. "They're very big, very physical, very disciplined, they play very hard, they don't make mistakes and they don't beat themselves. Defensively, they don't give up easy scores and offensively, they just try to impose their will." ... The Leopards have alternated quarterbacks this season between Colton Jones and Jared Mathie, with Jones getting the nod against Green. Jones completed 10 of 15 passes for 169 yards, two TDs and an interception. The second TD was the game-winner, a 35-yarder to Davis Burick late in the third quarter. For the season, Jones has completed 40 of 64 passes for 512 yards, three TDs and two interceptions. "I've planned on playing them both in each game," DeMarco said. "It just so happens that I played one for each of the three. It's just how the games played out." Who plays this week? "It could be series to series, play to play," he said. "It's just about how things are going." ... Max Hartline scored the game-clinching TD with 2:13 left on a 17-yard run. He carried 22 times for 161 yards and two TDs against Green and has 244 yards rushing this season on 44 attempts. ... Burick (16 catches, 253 yards, 3 TDs), Mathie (11 catches, 141 yards), Bryce Zuppe (11 catches, 134 yards, 1 TD) and Ryan Pukys (9 catches, 134 yards) have all been weapons in the passing game. ... Defensively, the Leopards forced three turnovers and held Green to six points in the second half. "I thought we were real aggressive and flew to the ball, which was good," DeMarco said. "And our pass defense didn't give up any big plays for the first time in awhile, which was encouraging."
